The Powassan Lions Club was founded in 1938 and over the last 75 years has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for community betterment. Contributions have been made to everything from the Sportsplex, the Powassan Lions Pool and the Powassan Lions Ball Park to assisting those in need with glasses or financial support following fire or other disasters.
The Lions operate the South Himsworth Centre Hall both as a Lions Den and administer the rental and general maintenance of the hall for community use.
Throughout the years the Powassan Lions has operated an annual Fish Fry (third Wednesday of June), Adopt-a-Highway cleaning Highway #11 from the Purdon Line to the Lindquist Line, Annual Children's Christmas Party and Christmas Baskets of food and presents to those in need, Building and raffling a Giesler Canoe, building Lions Muskoka chairs for sale, and many other activities.
The motto, "We Serve" describes the philosophy and the practice of the club and the opportunity to participate in community enhancement activities and enjoy the fellowship of other like-minded women and men is open to all who want to make a difference in the community.
