Powassan is fortunate to have many volunteers who make up the community’s clubs and organizations. These invaluable people allow the residents of the municipality to participate in everything from annual festivals to weekly social events. These groups also give residents wishing to donate their time an opportunity to volunteer.Many organizations host events throughout the year as well. Be sure to watch the Festivals and Events Page (under Recreation) for updates.

Listed below are the active organizations and clubs of the Municipality.
The Powassan Royal Canadian Legion Hall is available for rentals (Weddings, Anniversary Parties, Seminars, Meetings) and is equipped with wheelchair access and acessible washrooms. We offer excellent catering services at competitive rates for large and small lunches or dinners.
General meetings are on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM.Executive meetings are every 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
The annual Slo Pitch tournament is the 3rd weekend of August. Please call 705-724-2235 for more information on rentals.

The Golden Sunshine Club is a place to gather and join in on some fun! The club meets on the 1st Monday at 1:00 pm of each month. At 250 Clark. Membership is open to persons 50 years and plus, new members are always welcome!

The Powassan Lions hold a fish fry every spring and numerous raffles throughout the year. They contribute monies to many local organizations such as: Minor Hockey, Figure Skating, and the municipal pool/playground. They also work closely with the CNIB and their Dog Guides Program. Recently, area Lions worked toward raising over $250,000 for the Ophthalmology Clinic of the New North Bay and Region Health Centre. The Trout Creek Lions hosts a craft show in November, a $1,000 Bingo for the Trout Creek Winter Carnival, a Quilt Auction every other May and fundraising Toll Roads twice a year. They also participate in local bike rodeos, the Adopt-a-Highway Program, and the General Community Welfare Program and maintain the Trout Creek Lions Tennis/Basketball courts at the Community Centre. Recently the Trout Creek Lions created a parkette on land provided by the Municipality for the town to enjoy. They also built and placed garbage containers for the community's use. Administered by the Board of Management for Eastholme, this community program has dedicated staff, community coordinators, and volunteers to deliver hot & frozen meals, transportation services, seniors’ luncheons, and fitness classes throughout the East District of Parry Sound. Programs available to seniors 65+ and people with disabilities.

Meals on Wheels is delivered every Wednesday to the elderly and shut-ins in the Municipality and area. The organization has been making life easier for many residents for over 24 years. Please call Leslie Price at 705-724-6028.

Established in 1895, the Ag Society hosts an annual Fall Fair on Labour Day weekend. Heavy horse pulls, demolition derby, parade, live music, exhibits, poultry, children events, and rabbit show. Bingo, penny sale, variety of vendors. Inflatable fun for the kids, wildlife shows, and reptile shows.
They also host the Muskoka Parry Sound Pigeon & Poultry Club for their Spring & Fall Auctions and Shows.
The Trout Creek Agricultural Society holds their annual Fall Fair the second last weekend in August at the Trout Creek Community Centre. There is a corn roast, horse show and craft and baking sales from local artists. This group is proactive in promoting the benefits of agriculture. Girls Guides Canada offers programs that promote service in the community, outdoor activities, camping, crafts, games, personal development, leadership, life skills, and other fun activities. The Powassan and Area Figure Skating Club offers a wide range of programming for its participants. Some of the programs include Learn to Skate, CanSkate, CanSkate Plus, and intermediate skating. Additionally, the Club hosts a Funskate Competition. This competition provides an opportunity for all the skaters in the club to participate in a competition that is FUN. Participants range in age from 6 to 15 years old and for some this is their first competition.
