ENTRANCE PERMIT
The Entrance Policy defines the control, installation, classification, reclassification, replacement, and standards of access to the Municipality’s roads, while adhering to Zoning Bylaw No. 2019-19 and Bylaw No. 2010-16 so that:
- The safety of the travelling public is ensured
- The operating integrity of the road system is protected by ensuring the efficient flow of traffic,
- The impact of development on the road system is minimized,
- Future maintenance and reconstruction costs are minimized or reduced

The Encroachment Policy is to formalize and clarify the procedure and requirements for granting Encroachment Permits onto the Municipality of Powassan’s (“Municipality”) roads and right-of-ways so that:
• The safety of the travelling public is ensured.
• The operating integrity of the road system is protected by ensuring the efficient flow of traffic.
• The impact of encroachment, or work related to, on the road system is minimized.
• The impact of encroachment, or work related to, does not interfere or create road maintenance issues.

The 2016 Federal Budget announced the establishment of the CWWF (Clean Water-Wastewater Fund) that proposes to invest up to $570 million in federal funding and up to $270 million in provincial funding in the province of Ontario. The CWWF will provide Ontario communities with vital infrastructure funding to help accelerate short term investments to support the rehabilitation and modernization of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, and the planning and design of future facilities and upgrades to existing systems.
The Municipality of Powassan was approved for eight (8) separate projects. 50% of each project is funded by the Federal Government, 25% is funded by the Province of Ontario and 25% is funded by the municipality. Projects included: rehabilitation/relining of a sanitary sewer on Clark Street; new pump for sewage lift station #1; dredging of municipal lagoon #2; rehabilitation of wastewater pipe on Queens Avenue; rehabilitation of wastewater pipe on Edward Street; replacement of chlorine analyzer for water pumping station on Fairview Lane; flow meter replacement for sewage lift station #2; pump replacement at sewage lift station #2. All projects have been completed.
The Municipality of Powassan will continue to work with the provincial and federal governments when funding is available for upgrades to our water/wastewater system.
